I have only recently learned of your true impact upon Hip Hop culture and it cant be denied ever you are a true skill and humbled spirit ..I was introduced to your work through the Tools of War Park jams and from that I have learned of you and your peers and have gained a whole new found respect that is shared with everyone within the true school Hip Hop community ..stay blessed and stay active ..the documentation of the people is more powerful then we all give credit ....

I too survived a ghetto "choked and engulfed in flames" with poverty, racism, and uncertainty. Fortunately, because of my love for the Arts, a little bit of luck, and heavy doses of unyielding perserverence, I too was able to overcome and exceed the statistical expections of children born in the Bx during the 60s & 70s---especially for the non-English speaking kids.
For decades, I avoided reflecting on those rough times; I mean...who wants to recall the numerous times one was startled awake in the middle of the night by someone pounding and hollering at the door, "Salte! Fuego!!", which was always followed by a mad run (barely awake & wearing a coat over night clothes & chanclas) down 6 flights in the middle of a freezing winter night??!! LOL! --I could laugh now, but that was no joke back then.
--But,... I feel you've done an excellent job in capturing those culturally rich and turbulent times. You stepped up to the plate to record an important part of our resilient culture & multi-faceted history. I applaud you for that!!--Job Well Done. I wish you continued success in all your future endeavors & dreams. Vale!

Thanks for your pictures. I also document the German and Vietnamese Hip Hop Scene or Culture! It´s sometimes fun, but mostly it´s more like a passion. You travel around and see how the culture lives. You also keep the spirit alive by catching some moments of Hip Hop, preserving them for a little eternity on photo paper. Of course there are some changes and developments, but still there is so much energy, so much power and enthusiasm.
I am not as experienced as you are, but I guess concerning the feeling about Hip Hop photography we have something in common.

Love the site, the pictures are really a treasured keep sake, it's with these that we will keep Hip-Hop alive, keep it it up my friend as Hip Hop is here to stay.
